Our Top Story Tonight: Will You Watch the "Before Midnight" Trailer?

The trailer for the highly anticipated finale to the Before trilogy has arrived. The film, which premiered at Sundance to rave reviews, follows another day in the life of on and off lovers Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy). Many fans of the franchise are avoiding the trailer at all costs, hoping to go into the film without having anything spoiled. Will you check it out? The film hits theaters on May 24, and I plan on watching both Before Sunrise and Before Sunset before it's released, as I've yet to check out them out.

Without much knowledge about the franchise I don't have much commentary to supply, so I'll just say to check out the news after the jump, which includes some early Oscar talk, Christopher Nolan and a new horror film.

  • Deadline reports that Matthew McConaughey has been offered the lead role in Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. Not much is known about the film other than that it involves space travel and will be released on November 7, 2014. McConaughey has been on quite a comeback streak as of late- his performances in Magic Mike and Killer Joe received raves and he will certainly be a player this awards season due to his work in The Wolf of Wall Street and Dallas Buyers Club. Interstellar sounds like a great role for him, and I'd love to see him work with Nolan. Obviously he hasn't been cast yet but, to quote the Deadline article, "who says no to Nolan?"
  • The trailer for the highly anticipated horror film You're Next has found its way online, and has horror fans chatting about whether or not it will live up to the hype. The film has already played at a number of film festivals, where it was celebrated by critics for it's unique plot. And the trailer certainly sells it as a unique looking film, but it also doesn't spoil any major details regarding the plot, which is a relief. I will definitely be checking the film out when it arrives in theaters on August 23.
  • In an unusual piece of casting, Judy Greer was cast in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The character actress will play the female love interest- for Cesar the ape. Yes that's right, this (very talented) actress best known for her appearances in comedies will be donning a motion capture suit along with Andy Serkis for the upcoming sequel to the surprise hit. The film already includes Jason Clarke, Keri Russell and Kodi-Smith McPhee in the human roles. Greer will next be seen in the Carrie remake this fall. Apes will hit theaters on May 23, 2014.
  • I won't start talking about the Oscars until September, but it's impossible to ignore how stacked this year will be in competition. Just today Fox Searchlight set a date for a major player, the highly anticipated Twelve Years a Slave. The film will be directed by Steve McQueen (Shame) and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (Children of Men) as a free man who is kindapped and sold into slavery in the south, during the 1800s. The stacked cast also includes Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Quvenzhané Wallis, Paul Dano, Paul Giamatti, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sarah Paulson, and will now hit theaters on December 27.
