It's Friday night, so I'm gonna keep this somewhat quick but there were a few interesting tidbits of film casting today. The most interesting, in my opinion, is that Bradley Cooper has joined the cast of the now notorious Jane's Got a Gun, the drama which Lynne Ramsay quit shockingly followed shortly by Jude Law. Cooper will fill Law's shoes as the film's villain, with Natalie Portman and Joel Edgerton as the leads. The film will now be directed by Gavin O'Connor and follows a woman who's husband is targeted by a gang, leading her to seek the help of a former lover to take them down.
As I've mentioned before, the film sounds interesting and the addition of Cooper makes me think this project could rebound from its tumultuous production. With three great actors in the cast and a director that I find quite talented, I'm much more optimistic then I once was about this film.
After the jump, check out news on Guilmero del Toro and David O. Russell's next project...
In other news...
- As if the project couldn't sound any better, David O. Russell's untitled Abscam drama has added Robert De Niro and Michael Peña to its cast of A-listers. The film already starts Christian Bale as a con man who was forced by a federal agent to take down con men. Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner and Louis C.K. were already cast in this film that I, honestly, can't wait to check out in December when it hits theaters.
- Speaking of great sounding projects, Jessica Chastain has joined the cast of Guilmero del Toro's Crimson Peak, the haunted house film I reported on yesterday. The film is still shrouded in much secrecy, but as I mentioned last night Charlie Hunam, Emma Stone and Benedict Cumberbatch were already cast. The film isn't starting production until early 2014, which is the year I think (hope?) it will be released. That being said, I wish it would start production earlier- this project sounds quite interesting.
Check the site tomorrow for an interesting article about Jurassic Park 3D and on Sunday morning for my review of Evil Dead.
